AMR-1 (Amorcyte) - Intracoronary injection of bone marrow derived CD34+ stem cells after an acute heart attack

AQUARIUS - A 104-week, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled multicenter study to evaluate the efficacy of aliskiren on progresson of atherosclerosis in patients with coronary artery disease when added to optimal background therapy.

CACZ885M231 - A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, event-driven trial of quarterly subcutaneous canakinumab in the prevention of recurrent cardiovascular event among stable post-myocardial infarction patients with elevated hsCRP

dal-OUTCOMES - Phase III, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study to evaluate the effects of dalcetrapib on CardioVascular (CV) risk in stable CHD patients with documented recent Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS).

dal-PLAQUE - A phase IIIB, multicenter, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled sutdy evaluating the effect of treatment with dalcetrapib 600mg on atherocsclerotic disease.

deCODE - From our gene bank study we have evidence that African Americans with a certain gene have increased risk of heart disease. This study is looking at an agent that may help minimize or stop the changes caused by this gene and prevent further complications of heart disease in African Americans.

DIVA - Drug-eluting stents versus bare metal stents in saphenous vein graft angioplasty. 

EDHF - The goal of this study is to determine the contribution of EDHF in changes in relaxation of blood vessels of the healthy volunteers and those with high cholesterol. Better understanding of the role of EDHF will increase scientific knowledge regarding its role in cardiovascular disease and may ultimately result in discovery of important approaches to treatment.

Effervescent Trial - The Effervescent Trial is evaluating long term effects of valsartan, a commonly used medication to treat high blood pressure, on hardening of the arteries.

FAME II - Fractional flow reserve-guided percutaneous coronary intervention plus optimal medical treatment versus optimal medical treatment alone in patients with stable coronary artery disease.

FREEDOM - Future revascularization in patients with diabetes mellitus: optimal manangement of multivessel disease.

Gene Bank - Over the last several decades, scientists have made great progress in their understanding of cardiovascular disease. Nevertheless, much remains to be learned about the causes, course, and treatment of cardiovascular disease. In order to learn more about this topic, it is important to establish large databases of cardiovascular patients. These databases allows scientists to investigate, in a rigorous and precise manner, those factors that influence cardiovascular disease.

GPAD-2 - Peripheral arterial disease is a common condition in older adults involving poor arterial circulation in the legs leading to leg pain and debility.  The body's own circulating blood vessel stem cells may help to improve circulation.  This study will test whether treatment with the drug granulocyte macrophage colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF) will improve symptoms and signs of peripheral arterial disease over placebo after four weeks of therapy.  As well this study will examine whether improvements in blood vessel function can be observed.  Finally, we will measure blood vessel function and stem cell levels in order to determine whether they can help to predict whether patients wither peripheral arterial disease will suffer further cardiovascular complications.

Meta-Health - Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a health problem which is found in persons who have 3 or more of these risk factors for heart disease: high blood pressure, high blood sugar, high fat in the blood and are overweight. This study will look at two ways of giving Metabolic Syndrome patients information. The first is routine care, which involves the regular care that doctors provide to patients. The second adds educational sessions and telephone calls from a community health worker to the doctor's regular care.

Nebivolol - Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a common disease that affects many Americans, and can lead to devastating consequences such as heart attack, stroke, and death if not treated. Nebivolol is a medication that has been recently approved by the FDA for the treatment of hypertension. Nebivolol is a medication with an unusual profile compared to other medications, in that its effects may be related to release of a substance called nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is released from the cells lining the blood vessels, and nebivolol may stimulate these cells to release more nitric oxide. Our study will investigate whether treatment with nebivolol, as compared to another medication called metoprolol, in hypertensive subjects will be more  effective in protecting blood vessels against the harmful effects of high blood pressure. The mechanisms we will investigate include oxidative stress markers and circulating levels of endothelial progenitor cells.

Nebivolol 2 - High blood pressure (hypertension) is called the "silent killer" because many people do not know they have it, and do not know when it is well controlled. Unfortunately, over time uncontrolled hypertension can cause irreversible organ damage that can lead to heart attack, stroke, heart failure, and kidney failure. If a person cannot control their blood pressure with diet and exercise, doctors often prescribe medications to help control the blood pressure. Nebivolol is a medication that has been recently approved by the FDA for the treatment of hypertension.  Our study will investigate whether treatment with nebivolol, as compared to another medication called metoprolol, in African Americans with hypertension will be more effective in protecting blood vessels against the harmful effects of high blood pressure.

RESCUE - Randomized evaluation of patients with stable angina comparing utilization of diagnostic examinations.

TRILOGY - A comparison of prasugrel and clopidogrel in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) subjects with unstable angina/non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (UA/NSTEMI) who are medically managed.
