The Emory University School of Medicine offers a comprehensive training program in the study of nephrology which is designed to produce competent subspecialists and clinical investigators following a period of intensive training.  Two tracts are offered.  For those interested in pursuing an academic career, there is an intensive year of clinical training followed by two years of protective time in research in areas of interest selected by the trainees.  For those interested in solely pursuing a clinical career, there is an intensive year of clinical training followed by a year mixed with additional clinical training and clinical investigation structured around the trainees' research interest.  Trainees are expected to submit a completed project for publication.  Applicants must have completed an approved internal medicine residency and be licensed to practice medicine in the United States.

Meetings: The Renal Division permits all second year fellows to attend one national meeting of their choice.  A fixed stipend is provided to help defray costs of registration, transportation, food and lodging.

Vacations: Trainees are allotted three weeks paid vacation per year
