Brownfield Named Vice Chair for Education

From the Chair: It is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Erica Brownfield, M.D. as the Vice Chair for Education in the Department of Medicine. She will develop the Office of Education which will seek to coordinate the educational activities at multiple levels of the department including undergraduate, and postgraduate education and potentially CME as well.
Dr. Brownfield is an outstanding citizen of the department and has acquired an exemplary reputation both as an educator and a leader. Dr. Brownfield joined Emory's faculty in General Medicine in 1999 after completing residency training at Massachusetts General Hospital. She was an undergraduate at UCLA and received her M.D. from the Chicago Medical School. Dr. Brownfield has served as Director of the Internal Medicine 3rd year Clerkship since 2006. She has received numerous teaching awards including "Best Clerkship Director" Award, Ward Attending Teaching Award, and Excellence in Teaching Award from the Emory School of Medicine. We are honored that she will engage this important new role.
