This is a week-long training program available only to individuals who have attended the Ultrasonography for Nephrologists course. These 5-day programs run from Monday-Friday and prior attendance of a formal training course is a prerequisite. Only one trainee is taken each week and he/she joins the ultrasound service, performing ultrasound studies. Fellows will also participate in the daily reading and generation of reports, operation of the database, coding, and billing. An extensive teaching file is available for study. Because a limited number of minifellowship slots are available, we have to restrict them to one week per attendee. There are some weeks that consist of only 4 days because of holidays and are not offered for minifellowships.   Because of problems with physicians cancelling at the last minute, thus depriving other physicians of a chance to come, we now require payment of tuition prior to reserving a slot. Tuition is not refundable. In the event of cancellation, tuition is forfeited unless we find a replacement. If a replacement is found, tuition will be applied to a future date. Thus, early cancellations are recommended.
